There’s something special about making high quality creations by hand. Not only are you creating something that will last, but you know that those pieces will get cherished in an uniquely magical way; perhaps even for a lifetime.

Hiya! I’m Red and the artist behind Sweetie Knots. :)

This idea was born after the pandemic took over and put everyone’s life on pause. I had just graduated college ( 2020 ) and realized that what I wanted to do with my degrees would require additional significant time in graduate school - a luxury that was unattainable at the time. For months, I was floating, unsure of what was next. Then, one day, as I was sitting in a zoom meeting with a writing group, listening while absentmindedly crocheting a baby blanket for a friend, it hit me. I could be making handmade things!

Crocheting was a skill that I picked up at a boarding school, back when I was 12 years old, living in a tiny, but artsy town in North Carolina. At the time, I mostly worked on hats. Over the years I expanded to scarves, gloves, and eventually baby blankets, as a way to make unique gifts for loved ones. ( I even took time and learned how to knit! )

It wasn’t until I was in my 30s that I realized that handmade toys could be just as unique and special as wearable items - and - in some ways, they’d get a lot more daily love. Utilizing the crochet and photography skills that I’ve had for over 16 years, as well as the social media ones I had picked up along the way, I opened my small business, Sweetie Knots, LLC, in the summer of 2023 (officially!)

Now I create handmade pieces for children and collectors alike, worldwide, thanks to the power of social media platforms like TikTok and Twitch. While commission slots are limited, they are something I offer, in addition to the toys that I create for in-person markets and web-store launches!

While a lot of the pieces I make are from patterns kindly released by other artists, every piece comes with it’s own personalized flare, whether that’s my love for an abundance of color, changes in the finer details, or making a uniquely cute face, I incorporate a little bit of me, and the things that I love, in everything that is created. Specialized pieces like those found in the “Collectables" section, can take over two weeks to create and piece together, earning their spot as a collectable, rather than a toy. All of my toys are hand stitched or hand sewn. I hope, that if you come across my page or my store, that you find something you’d love to adopt! I look forward to creating something magical for you!

Sweetie Knots, LLC is an Indigenous Woman Owned Small Business.

“Red is the best to work with, not only does she get work done fast, she makes time to get to know you and what you like, and makes sure she can achieve it. I’m OBSESSED with the Dom crochet she made for me, on a whim, and I’m glad our paths crossed!” - Siphy.Isle

I came across Red’s fantsatic crochet work by total accident on a Facebook Reel and IMMEDIATELY messaged her about a caterpiller for my niece!! Her work is absolutely amazing and even better in person. She replied within minutes, and before I knew it, we had the perfect caterpillar designed. Within 24 hours, she had it done and was ready to ship it to me. Once recieved, I was even more blown away. The size, weight, and overall work was beyond phenomenal!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, her and her work. Her personal handwritten letter sold me even more. The detail in any and everything you can think of…she’s got you, spot on!! 🥰” - J. White

“My niece just loves sloths and I thought this would be a great Christmas gift for her. I never imagined it would turn out the way that it did! I just hope I can wait until Christmas to give it to her. Red, you did a fantastic job! Thank you so much!” - L. Webb
